The Puck Drops this Weekend on the 2009 Rogers Sportsnet OHL Schedule

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League and Rogers Sportsnet today announced the January schedule of CHL games that will be broadcast live on Rogers Sportsnet.  This Sunday afternoon, Sportsnet Ontario viewers can catch the Sarnia Sting visiting the Guelph Storm at 3:00pm ET.  Next Sunday, Sportsnet Ontario will also carry the Sarnia Sting taking on the Brampton Battalion at 2:00pm ET.

The January schedule concludes with the OHL’s Sudbury Wolves travelling to Windsor to take on the Spitfires at the new WFCU Centre in front of a National audience also at 7:00pm ET.  The Voltigeurs and Spitfires have been among the elite teams of their respective leagues all season.

The 2009 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game takes centre stage on Wednesday January 14 at 7:00pm ET and features 40 of the CHL’s top draft eligible players at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa, Ontario.  The stars are not limited to the ice as Don Cherry and Bobby Orr will coach the respective teams that feature World Junior Team Canada Gold Medalists John Tavares, Evander Kane, and Ryan Ellis.

CHL fans can also catch the 2009 MasterCard Memorial Cup on Sportsnet beginning Friday May 15 in Rimouski, Quebec, as the Rimouski Oceanic will be joined by the league champions of the QMJHL, WHL and OHL.  The six round-robin games, playoff tiebreaker (if necessary), the semi-final, and championship final will all be televised.

The remainder of the 2009 schedule which includes seven more regular season nationally broadcasted games will be released in the coming weeks.
