OHL Playoff Update: Thursday

In Belleville, rookie John McFarland scored the winning goal in the second period to lift the Sudbury Wolves to a 2-1 win over the Bulls in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference playoff series on Thursday. The Wolves tied the series at one game each and host the next three games of the series starting on Sunday.

Bryan Cameron opened the scoring for the Bulls12:41 into the first period before Wolves' captain John Kurtz tied the game on a powerplay with 1:20 left in the opening frame.

Then McFarland, the first overall pick in the OHL Priority Selection last May, banged in a loose puck at the side of the net for the go-ahead goal that stood up as the game winner. Eric O'Dell and Matt Dias picked up assists.

Andrew Loverock was the first star of the game after turning aside 31 shots and held the Bulls at bay on five powerplay opportunities, including one late in the game that preserved the win.

Mike Murphy stopped 26 shots for the Bulls.
