John Tavares Launches JT's Junior Generals Program

John Tavares, in support of the Oshawa Generals, is proud to announce the launch of a new community program, JT’s Junior Generals.  The initiative will allow minor hockey teams in the Durham region to attend Oshawa Generals home games courtesy of John Tavares.

For each Generals home game, the JT’s Junior Generals program will award one minor hockey team, players and coaches.  All team personnel will receive a ticket, a JT’s Junior Generals T-shirt, and another special gift courtesy of John.

Local teams will be able to submit an application through the Generals website, explaining why they deserve to be JT’s Junior Generals for a game.  Teams will be rewarded for various achievements on and off the ice, including community involvement and philanthropy.

“The time I spent in Oshawa was definitely very special to me and I’m really glad to have this opportunity to support minor hockey,” stated John Tavares.  “The city was so supportive of me while I was there and even after I left, so it means a lot to be able to return the favour.  I hope these kids come out and have as much fun at Generals games as I did.”

The Oshawa Generals organization is excited that one of its most beloved alumni supports the organization and contributes to the local minor hockey community.

John Tavares joined the Oshawa Generals at the age of 14 when the Ontario Hockey League introduced the “exceptional player” clause, allowing Tavares to play a year earlier than other players.  He was selected first overall in the 2009 National Hockey League Entry Draft by the New York Islanders currently serves as an alternate captain for the team.
