Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Ryan Spooner of the Kingston Frontenacs is the OHL Player of the Week for the week ending November 13 after scoring four goals and six assists for 10 points in three games along with a plus-minus rating of plus-8.

Spooner led the league in scoring this week and helped the Frontenacs win three straight games for the first time this season.  His best performance was last night in a 5-3 win over the Saginaw Spirit where he recorded his second career five-point game with a shorthanded goal and four assists as the game’s first star.  He started the week last Monday morning in his hometown of Ottawa as part of the 67’s annual School Day game where he scored a shorthanded goal and added two assists as first star of a 7-4 win.  His week also included a two-goal effort on Friday night with another shorthanded marker plus a power play goal and was named second star of the 7-0 win over the visiting Oshawa Generals.  In addition to his 10-point week with the Frontenacs, Spooner collected three assists to help Team OHL defeat Team Russia 10-7 on Thursday night in the 2011 SUBWAY Super Series game played in Ottawa.

Spooner, a 19-year-old from Kanata, ON, is playing in his fourth OHL season.  The 2010 second round pick of the Boston Bruins has 19 points in 19 games so far this season, and will suit up again for Team OHL as an Assistant Captain tonight in the 2011 SUBWAY Super Series against Team Russia in a game that can be seen live on Sportsnet from Sault Ste. Marie.

Also considered for the award this week was Ottawa Senators first round pick Stefan Noesen of the Plymouth Whalers, and San Jose Sharks prospect Michael Sgarbossa of the Sudbury Wolves.  Noesen picked up three goals and five assists for eight points in three games, while Sgarbossa had four goals and two assists for six points in two games.  In goal, the Frontenacs’ Igor Bobkov made 106 saves in three games picking up three wins with a goals-against-average of 2.33 and save percentage of .938 along with one shutout victory.
